EARTH WEEK!

Earth Week is upon us!

I really want to encourage everyone to GO OUT INTO YOUR COMMUNITIES this week!

Only together can we make a difference. This week, we need to collaborate as a species to help protect our home. We truly have such a beautiful home!!! Lets keep it that way!

Ways to help out this week:
-Plant a tree
-Cleanup/Restore; lakes, beaches, rivers, trails, communities
-Create a pledge board in your office or home so that everyone can make an environmental pledge for the year
-Attend an environmental fair or parade in honor of Earth Day
-Invite a local politician to your environmental event and have them discuss local environmental issues with people in your community
-Organize a walk-a-thon in honor of an environmental issue

There are so many things you can do this week!

Another really great thing to do this week is to go and see Disney Nature's: Oceans
It comes out on Thursday and if you see it during opening week they will donate part of the proceeds to help save coral reefs!

If you are in the area and would like to attend an event that I will be at I encourage you to do so! I would be so thrilled to see everyone there!

On Thursday I will be in Winter Park from 10-2pm for their Earth Day Celebration. Come out to be part of the Tree Planting Ceremony and other great Earth Day Activities. Then on Thursday night from 8-10 pm I will be attending a drum circle at Shine on Yoga in Downtown Orlando which is an Earth Week activity sponsored by the City of Orlando.

Then on Saturday is the annual "Central Florida Earth Day" festival. The event will be held at Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando from 10-6pm. There will be TONS of Earth Friendly vendors and plenty of activites for people of all ages.

I will be speaking on the Youth Panel at 11 am so be sure to stop by :)

Thanks to everyone who will be out this week making a difference!

Thank you Mayor Buddy Dyer!

I would like to dedicate a post to thank the Mayor of Orlando, Mayor Buddy Dyer for taking the time to recognize me with a proclamation.

The proclamation was given to me to honor and recognize all of the work that I have done within the community.

Giving back to others is something that I LOVE to do! My parents have always taught me the importance of giving back and it is something that genuinely makes me happy.

I feel so honored to be to recognized and I truly appreciate it!

Thank you again to the City of Orlando! This is not the end of the road for me. I fully plan on continuing to give back now and in the future and I encourage everyone else to do so as well. There are so many great ways to get involved. Find a charity of organization that promotes a cause that you feel passionate about!

This week is also Earth Week and Earth Day is on Thursday. Take some time to go out into your community and make a difference!

Washington DC: Sightseeing

One of the my favorite parts of the trip to Washington DC was the SIGHTSEEING!!!

As a Political Science student, I already have a deeply rooted love for politics and American history, so it's not hard to believe that I absolutely fell in LOVE with this city!

I figured I would dedicate a post to some of the pictures that I took while I went sightseeing in DC :) Enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sinergy Fashion Show: Washington DC

Greetings from Washington DC!

My reign as Miss Teen Earth United States recently took me all the way from Orlando, FL. to Washington DC to be part of the Sinergy Fashion Show! I was so excited to be part of this event because it was a fundraiser for the Skin Cancer Foundation.

I personally believe that skin cancer is such an important issue facing our generation. With the rising popularity of tanning beds and even the depletion of our ozone layer, we need to be increasingly more careful about our sun exposure and the dangers that over exposure can sometimes bring. Skin cancer is something that affects men and women equally, and it seems that recent generations are developing skin cancer at an earlier age than ever before.

For these reasons, I feel greatly honored to be part of an event that helps benefit an issue that truly affects a wide range of people.

You can't have a fashion show without a list of amazing designers! The night's show consisted of truly talented designers such as Tsyndyma, Blind Addiktion, Belafigura, Marina Asta, La Casa Hermosa, Scala, and Tashia Senn.

The event was held by "SiNERGY" and was the epitomy of a high class event. It was held at the Josephine in Washington DC and the show brought in a full house of spectators, photographers (as you can see in the picture to the left), and industry people.

We had the opportunity to showcase the talented work of many different designers and also raise money for an incredibly deserving cause.

We even had tons of fun along the way!

All in all, I conclude the night to be a SUCCESS!!!

As always... Thanks for stopping by :)
