Regalia

As many of you may know, I was fortunate to win Miss Teen Earth United States in a Jovani Couture gown purchased from Regalia Magnificent Apparel! The owners Carry and David are both very dear friends of mine. If you are looking for a winning gown then this is certainly an amazing place to go! There are tons of gorgeous competition gowns to choose from. Carry and David both have an eye for a winning gown, and their advice will definitely lead you to that PERFECT dress!

When I tried on my pink Jovani dress we all knew that it was "the one." Im actually certain that it was love at first sight! It really helped me have that edge on stage and I felt so CONFIDENT up there in a dress that I LOVED.

So if you are looking for a winning gown, I encourage you to go see Carry and David at Regalia Magnificent Apparel. They are located in beautiful Downtown Orlando, Florida.

My Journey at Miss Teen Earth United States 2010

As I sit down to write this blog, I am honestly having a hard time coming up with the words to say. How do you put into words the most amazing week in your life? Its so hard to describe the sheer blissful happiness that filled me as I spent a week in Laughlin, Nevada to pass on my title.

Previous to that week I had really been struggling with the fact that I was going to have to pass on my title. When you hold a title and spend a year promoting a cause that is close to your heart, you tend to become one with your title. Being Miss Teen Earth United States 2009 was no longer an addition to my life, it has become entirely an aspect of who I am as a person. My reign as Miss Teen Earth United States was certainly the best year of my life and I am so grateful for all the opportunities that I had!

The week was full of fun events. I got to reunite with my old friends as well as make tons of new ones! The week started out with check in and fittings. The top left picture is a group shot from that morning. Then later that day it was time for orientation! The picture on the top right is a group shot before we got on the buses to leave.

We had several activities as well that were centered on giving back to the Earth. First we did a river cleanup at the Colorado River. It was incredible how much trash there was polluting that beautiful river! But with 50 girls we got it cleaned up in less than half an hour! It really goes to show that a little effort can go a long way, especially when you get together with your peers and help out together. We also had a tree planting ceremony at Bull Head City High School in Bull Head City, Arizona. Planting a tree is a great way to give back to nature. Not only that, but it allows you to leave a legacy wherever you plant one. Im so glad that we had these opportunities to help out and make a difference. I know it encouraged all of us to continue working in our communities at home as well.

Then it was time for the actual pageant! Our director Evan Skow surprised us with a beautiful rose ceremony!!! It was literally the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced in my life. I am so grateful and honored to be friends with these amazing girls that I got to share my week with. It moved me to tears to see how much they cared about me. There was so much love on that stage. Thats what pageants really are about. Its about the love, and the relationships, and all the memories that you get to make along your journey and I will NEVER forget any of these beautiful girls! They are some of the greatest girls I have ever met. Truly beautiful on the inside and outside! To all of you - I am so glad that I got to know you! You will be life long friends and I am always here if you need anything!

Then it came time to crown our NEW WINNERS!!! Siria Bojorquez and Danielle Bounds, respectively from left to right. I know I have already told both how proud I am of you but I am going to say it again. I am so proud of you guys and I can't wait to see what you will do with the title! You are both such deserving girls and I really do love you both! Welcome to the family!

Last but certainly not least, we capped off the night with an after party to celebrate a successful week and beautiful new winners.

I will always look back on the memories I made with complete admiration. It was honestly the best week of my life and I am so grateful and blessed to have had such an amazing experience.
I love you all!!!

BP Oil Spill

The BP Oil Spill has been officially labeled the worst ecological disaster in history. As Miss Teen Earth United States; an advocate for environmental awareness, an advocate for protecting our Earth, an advocate for alternative energy.... you can only imagine the rage that this has caused within me.

For 2 months now I have been watching the news everyday hoping for a miracle, hoping that there would be some positivity in sight. I am heart broken everyday as attempts to clean up the spill are not successful. Newest reports label the end to be no sooner than August 1st, 2 months from now!

Today the news has reported that the oil will begin to spill onto Florida's beaches.

This officially hits home for me.

I have always grown up at the beach. My whole life I have never been more than an hour's drive. I have spent endless vacations in the sand and even spent an entire summer living right on the beach last year.

The beach is a place of serenity, peace, relaxation, and beauty to me; NOT a place for toxic waste!

The most unfortunate aspect of this situation is that what's done has been done. The rig has already exploded, the oil has already infiltrated the ocean, over 522 birds have already been found dead and covered in oil.

I hope that this will be a rude awakening to ALL POLITICIANS in our country that IT IS TIME to start investing more in alternative energy.

We need to make a move away from drilling. Drilling over in foreign countries ended up hurting us. Drilling offshore ended up contaminating our ocean.

Lets adopt eco-friendly alternative energy that we can produce right in the United States!

I hope that if anything, this disaster will help us prepare better for the future.

We need to ban together as a country to help clean up this mess. Its far too easy to place the responsibility on BP alone but when it comes down to it, a disaster of SUCH EPIC PROPORTION is going to require the work of BP, our National Government, Non-Profit Organizations, and the help of everyone who lives in this country!

Additionally, lets not let this happen again!

We need to begin to move in a more positive direction in order to preserve our Earth and the wildlife that shares our Home.

California Girls!

WOAH!

Summer is already beginning to FLY BY! I hope that everyone is enjoying the warm weather, the sunshine, and all the beauty that summer has to offer.

Summer is my favorite season and I felt so lucky to start my summer off in the most memorable way possible. I had the opportunity to begin my summer with a trip to LOS ANGELES! It was my first time out in LA and it was an amazing first experience.

It was a fun filled trip with my pageant family which included reuniting with my beautiful sister queen and the Miss Earth United States family.

The primary business of our trip out to California was to do a beach cleanup in Long Beach.

With the aftermath of the BP oil spill, it is more in my heart than ever to protect the beauty of our beaches. The white sand and the beautiful blue ocean is such a precious gift that we should treasure and protect.

I was proud to be part of the cleanup in Long Beach and I would like to encourage all people who live near the coast to do your part and help cleanup our beaches!

If your headed out to the beach this summer follow these cheap tips for being eco friendly on your beach day:

Opt for
- Reusable water bottles
- "Bambuware Sporks" as opposed to plastic silverware.
They are made naturally from bamboo which is both
disposable and completely biodegradable.
- "Preserve" plateware makes plates from 100% recycled
plastic, making it eco friendly and reusable!

As a sidenote, which should be a no brainer, make a concious effort to dispose of trash and recycle all plastic ware! The sand is not your garbage can!!!!

On top of our event, the weekend was also filled with some of the best sight seeing that California has to offer.

First Stop: The WORLD FAMOUS Santa Monica Beach Pier!

As a Florida native I am in LOVE with the beach. I have always considered it my place of serenity. The view of the West Coast, from the pier, was unlike anything I have ever seen. The sand is perfectly white and the deep blue of the waves crashes subtly against the shore. All the while, the mountains in the distance create a backdrop to the most perfect coastal view I have ever seen!

We even had time to ride the roller coaster on the pier! It was such a blast!!!!

Then it was off to HOLLYWOOD!

First stop; Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive.

We had a chance to take some pictures in the park outside of Beverly Hills and do some shopping on Rodeo drive.

Then we got a chance to strut our stuff on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

I had the opportunity to see the Kodak Theater and the stars of some of the most famous people who have ever lived!

In the picture to the left is me kneeling by Michael Jackson's star, who I believe is definitely one of the best artists of all time. RIP Michael Jackson

It was so awesome to be able to see some of the most famous sights in the country. It was definitely a very memorable weekend and I would like to thank my pageant family for all of the hospitality that they showed me while I was there!

I love you guys!

I would also like to give photo credit to Debbie Sutphen! I miss you Aunt Deb!

Allison's Tournament of Hope 2010

Last year I was a special guest at "Allison's Tournament of Hope." It is a charity golf tournament that was started by a family trying to "give back" to the Children's Miracle Network. This year the tournament will be held on June 19th at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club, Orlando.

Children's Miracle Network saved Allison's life. Allison is an amazing, beautiful, and exceptionally intellectual young girl who is a resident of Orlando, Florida. In 2005, Allison was diagnosed with an aggressive spinal tumor which had destroyed 3 of her vertebrae. With the help of the Children's Miracle Network and all of the doctors involved, they were able to do a spinal infusion and remove the 3 vertebrae, as well as the tumor, and Allison was able to recover from her tumor. Now Allison and her family are giving back to the Children's Miracle Network by hosting a charity golf tournament every year to raise money. They have already raised $22,000!!!!

Click here to watch her story!!!!! ----> video

If you would like to learn more about the event, register to be a part of it, or DONATE... please visit www.charitablegolfers.com !

I am looking forward to seeing everyone out there :)

Central Florida Earth Day

Hi Readers!

As always, thanks for stopping by!

I have been SO BUSY lately! April was a crazy and hectic month and May has been crazy too. But it has been such an amazing start to the summer!

This post is all about my experience at Central Florida Earth Day which was held in Downtown Orlando at Lake Eola.

Last year, Central Florida Earth Day started a partnership between myself and the "Clean the World Foundation."

As a result of that partnership I was able to volunteer for this foundation and become their children's ambassador.

This year at Central Florida Earth Day marked one year of my work with this foundation!

I also want to take the time to recognize the women who own Pure Essence Body Care for letting me have some of their all natural; homemade chapstick.

I'm hooked for life on this amazing product!

I also had an amazing opportunity to do several interviews that day.

The first interview I did was for FOX NEWS!

I loved having the opportunity to speak on the news about my views and my passions concerning the environment.

It was such a wonderful opportunity and was actually tons of FUN!

I also did an interview for Orlando Live which was so fun!

I love and embrace every opportunity that gives me an outlet to express my opinions and my convictions.

I hope to be able to reach out to many more people in the final months of my reign in an effort to inspire people to be more eco-friendly.

One of my favorite parts of the whole day was seeing so many people in the city of Orlando out to support such an amazing cause. It shows that as a city, we really do care about where we live.

I love this place I call home and I'm so proud of the efforts we are making to make it an even more beautiful city to live in!

Florida Hospital Celebrity Stroll

I was so fortunate and lucky to have the opportunity to attend the Florida Hospital Celebrity Stroll 2010.

It is a charity gala that benefits cancer programs for Women and Children. I think that this cause is so deserving and I was happy that I had the chance to volunteer and raise money.

During the night I helped out at the Silent Auction and had the opportunity to mingle with guests. The night was capped off with a performance by the Orlando Ballet. It was a successful event and a wonderful time.

EARTH WEEK!

Earth Week is upon us!

I really want to encourage everyone to GO OUT INTO YOUR COMMUNITIES this week!

Only together can we make a difference. This week, we need to collaborate as a species to help protect our home. We truly have such a beautiful home!!! Lets keep it that way!

Ways to help out this week:
-Plant a tree
-Cleanup/Restore; lakes, beaches, rivers, trails, communities
-Create a pledge board in your office or home so that everyone can make an environmental pledge for the year
-Attend an environmental fair or parade in honor of Earth Day
-Invite a local politician to your environmental event and have them discuss local environmental issues with people in your community
-Organize a walk-a-thon in honor of an environmental issue

There are so many things you can do this week!

For more ideas you can visit this link:
Ideas For Earth Week

Another really great thing to do this week is to go and see Disney Nature's: Oceans
It comes out on Thursday and if you see it during opening week they will donate part of the proceeds to help save coral reefs!
Click here to watch the preview: Disney Nature's: Oceans Trailer

If you are in the area and would like to attend an event that I will be at I encourage you to do so! I would be so thrilled to see everyone there!

On Thursday I will be in Winter Park from 10-2pm for their Earth Day Celebration. Come out to be part of the Tree Planting Ceremony and other great Earth Day Activities. Then on Thursday night from 8-10 pm I will be attending a drum circle at Shine on Yoga in Downtown Orlando which is an Earth Week activity sponsored by the City of Orlando.

Then on Saturday is the annual "Central Florida Earth Day" festival. The event will be held at Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando from 10-6pm. There will be TONS of Earth Friendly vendors and plenty of activites for people of all ages.

I will be speaking on the Youth Panel at 11 am so be sure to stop by :)

Thanks to everyone who will be out this week making a difference!

Thank you Mayor Buddy Dyer!

I would like to dedicate a post to thank the Mayor of Orlando, Mayor Buddy Dyer for taking the time to recognize me with a proclamation.

The proclamation was given to me to honor and recognize all of the work that I have done within the community.

Giving back to others is something that I LOVE to do! My parents have always taught me the importance of giving back and it is something that genuinely makes me happy.

I feel so honored to be to recognized and I truly appreciate it!

Thank you again to the City of Orlando! This is not the end of the road for me. I fully plan on continuing to give back now and in the future and I encourage everyone else to do so as well. There are so many great ways to get involved. Find a charity of organization that promotes a cause that you feel passionate about!

This week is also Earth Week and Earth Day is on Thursday. Take some time to go out into your community and make a difference!

Washington DC: Sightseeing

One of the my favorite parts of the trip to Washington DC was the SIGHTSEEING!!!

As a Political Science student, I already have a deeply rooted love for politics and American history, so it's not hard to believe that I absolutely fell in LOVE with this city!

I figured I would dedicate a post to some of the pictures that I took while I went sightseeing in DC :) Enjoy!

Sinergy Fashion Show: Washington DC

Greetings from Washington DC!

My reign as Miss Teen Earth United States recently took me all the way from Orlando, FL. to Washington DC to be part of the Sinergy Fashion Show! I was so excited to be part of this event because it was a fundraiser for the Skin Cancer Foundation.

I personally believe that skin cancer is such an important issue facing our generation. With the rising popularity of tanning beds and even the depletion of our ozone layer, we need to be increasingly more careful about our sun exposure and the dangers that over exposure can sometimes bring. Skin cancer is something that affects men and women equally, and it seems that recent generations are developing skin cancer at an earlier age than ever before.

For these reasons, I feel greatly honored to be part of an event that helps benefit an issue that truly affects a wide range of people.

You can't have a fashion show without a list of amazing designers! The night's show consisted of truly talented designers such as Tsyndyma, Blind Addiktion, Belafigura, Marina Asta, La Casa Hermosa, Scala, and Tashia Senn.

The event was held by "SiNERGY" and was the epitomy of a high class event. It was held at the Josephine in Washington DC and the show brought in a full house of spectators, photographers (as you can see in the picture to the left), and industry people.

We had the opportunity to showcase the talented work of many different designers and also raise money for an incredibly deserving cause.

We even had tons of fun along the way!

All in all, I conclude the night to be a SUCCESS!!!

As always... Thanks for stopping by :)

PHOENIX TRIP!

Last week I had the opportunity to travel to Phoenix with 2 of my pageant sisters, Amy Diaz; Miss Earth United States 2009 and Denise Garrido; Miss Earth Canada 2008!

We had a blast! I hardly know where to begin!

I'll start from the beginning:
After flying into Phoenix on Tuesday night we traveled to the Mesa Regal Resort where we were staying for the trip. It was an early wake up call on Wednesday morning; we had a FULL day of events ahead of us!!

Wednesday morning began with a trip to Copper Canyon Elementary School where we sat in on a Kindergarten and First Grade Class. We got to read a book about saving the Earth to them and had the chance to talk about recycling, reusing, and reducing. It was so nice to be able to interact with the children, and it was especially impressive to see how much knowledge they had already attainted about being eco friendly at SUCH a young age. It was heart warming and really gives me hope for the future of our planet!

Then we were off for some sightseeing in Phoenix. I loved being able to see the beautiful mountains! The view was absolutely beautiful!

Finally the main event was Wedesday night! Amy, Denise, and Myself were all special guests at an event called "Hands across the Border." Denise, being Miss Earth Canada was the emcee along with Captain Frank, and Amy and myself had the chance to speak on stage about the pageant and about our journey. The vision of the event was as follows: "Citizens of the US and Canada coming together as neighbors to celebrate our similiarities and our differences in a way that is fun, respectful, and above all, aimed at strengthening our current relationship while preparing for a strong positive future." The event was held as Mesa Regal Resort, where we were staying. I really enjoyed the opportunity to meet all of the residents and be part of such a great event. The event was also a fundraiser for the Sandra Day O' Connor marching band to travel to Calgary in Canada. We all raised $1,000!!!! The school's band teacher is actually Mrs. Arizona, Melanie Britton who was also in attendance on Wednesday night. It was so nice that everyone came together to help out her amazing band students.

Overall, it was such an amazing experience! I want to say Thank You to Southwest Airlines for flying us out to Phoenix. I want to thank Mesa Regal Resort for setting us up in such a beautiful place to stay. I want to thank the directors of "Hands Across the Border" for inviting us, and I want to thank my director, Evan Skow, for showing us around and giving us a great experience!

Bye Phoenix! I hope to see you again!
